Company profile:

Erle Robotics is a startup that creates distributed, easily reusable and reconfigurable robot hardware components that simplify the creation of robots, reduce costs and speed up development time. Each one of these components uses the Robot Operating System (ROS) at its core and provides well defined interfaces that allow to create extensible and self-reconfigurable robots.

Among these distributed components, the most popular commercial deployment of Erle Robotics is their artificial brains for robots and drones. Linux-based cognition devices built in a bottom-up approach including different layers that start with a Linux kernel providing real-time capabilities and going up to deploy a set of bio-inspired artificial multi-layered neural networks that help clients improve their robot’s behavior by using these learning techniques with high-level, simplified APIs.

Products and services:

Currently, Erle Robotics has two lines of commercial products: 1) artificial brains and 2) robotic kits.

Among the artificial brains, it’s popular the Erle-Brain series which has been deployed in hundreds of companies and research centers around the world. Erle-Brain series supports nowadays 4 kinds of robots:

  • legged robots (e.g. hexapods)
  • flying robots (different dynamical models; helicopters, tricopters, quadcopters, hexacopters, octocopters, planes, hybrid vtols, …)
  • wheeled ground robots
  • underwater robots

The robotic kits offered by Erle Robotics aim to provide a low cost entry point for robotics delivering fully capable robots in the in the 200 to 800 Euro range. Several of them provide simulation capabilities using the Gazebo robotics simulator and receive technical support via Erle Robotics community at http://forum.erlerobotics.com.

Erle Robotics also provides robotics consulting services for companies and governements. It has successfully deployed several of their solutions in real scenarios and fullfilled government contracts in strategical areas for the short term future of robotics.
