Company profile:

We are Blue Danube Robotics, a start-up company in the heart of Vienna and we build affordable, easy-to-use, safe and soft robotic companions with manipulation capabilities for assisted living to help physically handicapped people to regain autonomy and for the elderly to live independently in their own homes. We also apply our AirSkin tactile skin technology to industrial applications to add safety to human-robot-collaboration in manufacturing. Our sensors are also available as wireless sensors, enabling activity tracking in AAL-settings and smart homes.

Products and services:

AirSkin Safety is a tactile safety sensor for industrial applications. The patented pressure sensing technology measures contact force and provides emergency stop functionality at the highest safety level for industrial robots or Autonomous Guided Vehicles. AirSkin is freely customizable to any 3D shape and size, is made from lightweight and soft material and is installed via gluing to any surface and thus provides an economic safety solution.

Blue is an assistive robotic companion supporting physically handicapped people in their daily lives. Blue performs manipulation tasks such as fetching items, opening doors, handing beverages as well as providing active tele-presence, especially in emergency situations, 24 hours a day. Blue’s design allows its arms to reach the floor as well as tables and shelves, with its powerful compliant water-hydraulic drives operating silently and safely. Blue is covered in soft, touch sensitive skin for safe operation in close contact with humans. Blue provides its users with helping hands to regain their autonomy and independence.
